Reframe the Experience

I got this text (on the right->) from my client this week. She was upset about how an identity theft had turned her life upside down. In our coaching session we worked to reframe how she looked at the experience.


As we talked, it was clear to me that she was the hero. She had identified how they had gotten into her accounts, changed all her passwords, her credit cards, her email and her phone number. Not only did she prevent them from taking any more of her money, she got back every bit that they had charged to her account. She had taken control of the situation and blocked the hackers. She had outsmarted them, which was no small feat.


Once she realized that she was in control and had thwarted their attempts, it changed how she felt about the event. She was no longer the victim of identity theft. She was the superhero!
